Interesting to hear a non Britpop heavy 1994 list from a Brit, I remember at school the people that were into guitar based bands did seem to fall into either American or British camps, a few of us low-key, flitting between the two, hoping neither side would notice, like some kind of trans-Atlantic mixtape spy...
There was definitely a middle ground between the britpop stuff and US “grunge” that I dug…Therapy?, Manics, Wildhearts….definitely wasn’t into the Oasis/Blur nonsense and still not, I do go back to Pulp and Suede occasionally though

Listened to it all! (at the time) But, yes, the middle ground bands, the outsiders/those that like to riff, have had the longevity for me.
